Tender Hearts Baby's Home

Ken Nganda from Uganda has an amazing story that needs to be heard: When Ken was 20 years old, his parents both died. Ken says, "That may not be devastating in the US, but in a country like Uganda, it can be life threatening, especially with two younger siblings to care for." That was the trial that God used in Ken's life to plant a seed of concern for the orphans of Uganda. Ken later married and God placed that same burden on his wife Kathy's heart. Over time they have adopted three orphans and are raising them along with their three biological children. That too, would seem to be fairly normal until you learn that they live with no income. Only a garden for vegetables and an occasional gift from those that have come along side them in their effort, they have founded a "Baby's Home" for so many more abandoned babies. Tender Hearts Baby's Home is unique in the fact that it is not a long term care facility like most orphanages. It's intent is to rescue baby's that are abandoned and left to die in the streets of Kampala (a city built for 800,000 and inhabited by over 4 million) and nourish them back to health until they can be adopted by Christian couples in the United States.

Ken and Kathy's heart for those precious children are causing people from around the world to join them in this effort. Night Light Christian Adoptions has come along side to help find couples seeking international adoptions. Churches in South Carolina, California and Nebraska have committed to monthly support as well as providing the funds to build a new Baby's Home in a more rural setting. This will allow monthly costs to lower as they currently rent space for the Baby's Home as well as giving them the space to tend a sustainable garden, providing a regular source of food on their plates.
